The SMI Scraping System
Part 1: Corner Pulley
The Corner Pulley is the primary directional control component that enables scraper ropes to safely navigate 90° turns underground. It prevents rope fouling against hanging walls and infrastructure, reduces rope wear, and allows uninterrupted scraping cycles.
Part 2: Brow Pulley
The Brow Pulley is installed at brows and elevation transitions, this pulley manages rope angle and tension at high-wear points. It stabilizes rope movement, protects services and excavations, and significantly extends rope lifespan while reducing fine-dust generation.
Part 3: Elevating Snatchblock
The Elevating Snatchblock is a height-adjustable redirection unit that maintains correct rope alignment as the face advances. It reduces manual rope handling, supports consistent scraping geometry, and improves operational safety during cleaning cycles.
